Quotes May 2015

It has been a delightful month except it has stormed a lot causing chaos for my husband’s nicely planned flight schedules.  I have enjoyed running a few mornings in our backyard.  The repetition of running in circles isn’t too boring since the our garden is in full bloom.  Here is just glimpse.

It is a nice season for us as we finish up school. God is using a bible study I am in and the books I am ready to challenge me to be more like Him.  It is a good place to be as my children are getting ready to leave the nest.

So here are some quotes from the last month or so…

Some words of wisdom from a father to his son from Always on My Mind by Susan May Warren p. 299

If what we call love doesn’t take us beyond ourselves, require more of us than we ever dreamed, then it’s not the unconditional, divine love God intends for us.  God’s love is not cautious, not wise, not sensible, and not remotely conservative.  In fact, loving another person the way God loves them is the greatest adventure we can have.  The greatest treasure you can find.

From Emily Freeman in her book Million Little Ways

p. 103 Does the world need another book? Song? Painted living room? Not necessarily.  But the world does need you to come alive right where you are and not where you wish you were.

p. 197 But before he can show up in me, I have to show up in my own life, in the midst of a circumstance that might make me uncomfortable.

From Dear Mr. Knightley: A Novel by Katherine Reay p. 302

Self protection keeps you from love, Mr. Knightley-all love.  I am so sad at how I kept them at a distance… anyone and everyone who has ever stood by me.  I played God in our relationships.  I determined their value and their worth by how much I let them in, by how much I let them determine my worth.  I’m not God.  And I don’t need to work so hard anymore.

From Effective Immediately by Chautonia Havig p. 293

Faith gained is such an enormous gift that it’s impossible to grasp just how vast and magnificent.  Faith restored, however lends a layer of wisdom, taught through hardship, to which nothing else can compare.

From A.D. 30: A Novel by Ted Dekker p. 333

And why does man get angry?  Because he feels threatened or wronged.  And why does he feel threatened?  Because he does not believe he is safe.  Why? Because he is afraid of God and so cannot trust him.

I have also been read a book called Anything by Jennie Allen which has me thinking about a lot of things in my life.  Am I willing to do anything?  I will save all of that for another post.

What is a quote that you read recently that you are still thinking about?  Feel free to share it in the comments below.
