Quotes- August 2011
We are back home and have had a month to settle and regroup before school starts this week. I have enjoyed the time to read, plan and just piddle around the house. Here are a few quotes that I have liked this month.
From Paul Tripp
“Admitting your limits is not a sign of weakness; its an essential ingredient of mature faith.”
From Deconstructing Moralism by Tullian Tchividjian
“I’ve never met anyone who revels in the gospel of grace who then doesn’t want to obey God. It’s a phantom fear. Disobedience and moral laxity happens not when we think too much of grace but when we think too little of it, Grace is not the enemy of radical obedience- it is the fuel.”
From All Through the Night by T.Davis Bunn
“A hero is somebody willing to risk all to gain all. It doesn’t matter whether he wins or not. What matters is he tries. What matter is what he tries for.”
From Waterfall: A Novel by Lisa T. Bergren
“Courage is not the absence of fear, but the decision that something is more important than fear.”
From 1000 Gifts by Ann Voscamp
“Stress isn’t only a joy stealer. The way we respond to it can be sin.”
“Trust, it’s the antithesis of stress.”
“Lament is a cry of belief in a good God, a God who has His ear to our hearts, a God who transfigures the ugly into beauty. Complaint is the bitter howl of unbelief in any benevolent God in this moment, a distrust in the love-beat of the Father’s heart.”
From the Message and the book of Hebrews
“So, watch your step, friends. Make sure there’s no evil unbelief lying around that will trip you up and throw you off course, diverting you from the living God. For as long as it’s still God’s today, keep each other on your toes so sin doesn’t slow down your reflexes. If we can only keep our grip on the sure thing we started out with, we’re in this with Christ for the long haul.”
Feel free to share your quotes or favorite verses for the month with me.
Dear God, May we trust in you for all things giving thanks in all things. May you be with us this week as we start school that we will walk in your steps not our own. In Jesus name, Amen
