March 2011 Quotes

On a fun note, I am starting a new journal this week. Somehow it is like a new book to write where my life is full of God instead of myself. Each day is a new chapter. Here are some of my favorite quotes from this month. From a Mother Teresa- A Simple Path compiled by Lucinda Vardey When asked by a Senator, if she could ever be successful in India with all its problems, wasn’t it hopeless to try. Mother Teresa replied, “Well, Senator, we’re not always called to be successful but we’re always called to be faithful.” (A great word on days when I get discouraged if I am making a difference or not. The question is am I being faithful?) “Are we allowing God or our experiences to shape our heart?” Our pastor here in Central Asia Isaiah 61:3 “To all who mourn in Israel, he will give a crown of beauty for ashes, a joyous blessing instead of mourning, festive praise instead of despair. In their righteousness, they will be like great oaks that the Lord has planted for his own glory.” From Trusting God Even When Life Hurts by Gerald Bridges Commenting on the Apostles’ prayer in Acts after they had been arrested and released for proclaiming Jesus, “So they prayed, confident that the soveriegn God, who had commanded them to be witnesses was able to clear away the obstacles to their obedience.” “If God’s love was sufficient for my greatest need, my eternal salvation, surely it is sufficient for my lesser needs, the adversities I encounter in this life.” From The Ministry of Intercession by Andrew Murray. Commenting on Abraham, the author says, “Implicit obedience, to the very sacrifice of his son, was the law of his life. He did what God asked: he dared trust God to do what he asked.” A verse to pray from II Thess. 2:16,17 “May our Lord Jesus Christ himself and God our Father who loved us and by his grace gave us eternal encouragement and good hope encourage our hearts and strengthen you in every good deed and word. “
